Advanced Heavy Extrication Course
Instructor: George Humphrey, Gary Fire
This course will make students think outside the box and force them to use creative thinking to safely execute removing trapped patients. Vehicles may include semi-tractor, trailers, and school buses. Underrides, roll over and elevated extrication techniques will be covered in this course. In addition, students will be introduced to the use of heavy wreckers to assist in rescue techniques.
The Working Engine
Instructor: Nick Kieta, Valparaiso Fire
The Working Engine is a true 16 hours of Hands on Training focused on maximizing an engine company's efficiency on the fireground regardless of staffing. By Utilizing a mix of classic and modern engine techniques instructors will provide a systematic approach to all things engine. All efforts have been made to allow students the most hands-on time possible.
